Valdadige, one of Trentino’s most fascinating wine-growing regions, extends along the valley of the same name and was once the southernmost point of the Austrian Empire. This area boasts a mild climate that makes it ideal for growing grapes and producing agricultural products. Valdadige is characterized by a succession of apple orchards and vineyards, with an extraordinary panorama that alternates between rolling hills and calcareous soils of Dolomite origin.
The vines thrive here thanks to a particularly favorable climate, characterized by significant temperature variations from day to night that give the wines freshness, aroma, and liveliness. The winds that blow through the valley help keep the grapes dry and healthy, creating the perfect soil for both native and international grape varieties.
The area is famous for its production of white wines, with varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer, and Müller Thurgau, which give the wines a fresh and fragrant character. Alongside these, red grape varieties such as Teroldego, Lagrein, Marzemino, and Schiava are also grown, producing intense and velvety red wines.
The Piana Rotaliana, in the heart of the Valdadige, is a particularly suitable area, with soils rich in gravel and stones, which promote drainage and guarantee the quality of the grapes. The area is a true cradle of winemaking tradition, which today boasts highly successful cooperative wineries, where small producers join forces to transform grapes into top-quality wines. This collaboration within the community is one of the most unique and appreciated aspects of Trentino.
An undisputed symbol of Trentino winemaking, Trento DOC represents the excellence of classic method sparkling wines in Italy. Its history is linked to that of Giulio Ferrari, who in 1902 presented the first bottle of sparkling wine with secondary fermentation in the bottle, when the region was still part of Austria. Since then, Trento DOC has conquered the world with its finesse, freshness, and ability to age over time.
The main blend of Trento DOC is Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, which, thanks to aging on the lees, yield an elegant, fragrant, and refined sparkling wine. Trento DOC cuvées are perfect for any occasion, from a refined aperitif to a classy toast.
